After successfully implementing the universal education initiative in Pakistan to provide free compulsory education to the people of Pakistan, the PTI Government took a bold and mega initiative to provide access to universal healthcare facilities in KP. The Sehat Sahulat Program was launched in 2021 in the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KPK). Becoming a success story in KPK, the universal healthcare initiative now includes Punjab. Balochistan has shown its interest in the program and considering including it in its provincial plans. On the other hand, the Sindh government declined to own this project due to the allegedly discriminated nature of the program.

WHAT IS SEHAT SAHULAT PROGARM?
Sehat Sahulat Program is an initiative of the Government where the provincial governments provide universal health coverage. The health insurance project is a public-private partnership program. This cashless insurance scheme covers Rs 400,000 per year. However, the insurance can be covered up to 1,000,000 in unusual circumstances.
Sehat Sahulat Program is an initiative to fight the high adult mortality rate and alleviate poverty in Pakistan. Healthcare expenditures constitute the major chunk of the budget of an average-sized family. The Government plans to target the 3om families, bringing them into the Sehat Sahulat net. However, 6.7m families have benefitted from this program so far.
SEHAT SAHULAT PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
If you’re a citizen of KPK, Azad Kashmir, and Punjab, you can check your eligibility by sending a text 8500. The head of a family can apply for a Sehat Sahulat card.
According to the Sehat Insaf Card policy, everyone is eligible for benefits from the Qoumi Sehat card. However, a family head with unmarried children will have only one health card at a time. All the members of a family will use this card. However, the married persons will have their sehat cards.

WHICH DISEASES HAVE BEEN COVERED IN THIS PROGRAM?
Currently, the Government has insured against every disease except the OPD services. You can find the following diseases on the list covered by the Sehat.
The government has categorized the treatments packages into two types
- Secondary Care Treatment Packages
- Priority Care Treatment Packages
The basic health card offers insurance up to Rs. 400,000. However, if the treatment continues and the card has consumed all the amount, the treatment won’t stop and the government will bear all the expenses.
HOW CAN YOU USE THE SEHAT INSAF CARD?
There’s only one thing to remember: the Insaf cards are pre-paid, and you cannot withdraw money if you have not availed of the funds in them. On the other hand, if you incur any chronic disease or you’ve to visit the hospital, you can present the following documents:
- CNIC or B-Form
- INSAF CARD
